Anjali Sharma of LIME Lab Volunteers at the MCWT’s 2023 Annual Girls Rock IT event
Anjali Sharma of LIME Lab Volunteers at MCWT’s Girls Rock IT: Coding for Good program held in the brand new Larry K. Lewis Center @ the North West Campus of the Wayne County Community College in Detroit. This event aimed to empower girls in grades 2 through 8, helping them explore the world of coding and technology.
Throughout the program, Brownies and Juniors (grades 2-5) designed interactive games using Scratch, while Cadettes (grades 6-8) built their own apps with App Inventor.
“It was inspiring to see these young minds light up as they transformed ideas into functional digital creations. Every participant left not only with new skills but also with a well-earned Coding for Good badge, symbolizing their growth from gamer to game-changer. The program beautifully demonstrated how technology can be a tool for creativity.” – Anjali Sharma.
The event, supported by MCWT, aligns perfectly with LIME Lab’s mission to foster STEM education and inspire the next generation of innovators in Detroit.
